This project investigated the cause of truffle rot which is increasingly being found in Australian grown black truffle, Tuber melanosporum. The problem occurs soon after the time of truffle initiation in February through to harvest in June often resulting in the loss of large proportions of the total yield and a downgrading in product quality. This project focused on the role of irrigation management in development of the problem as well as the application of soil tillage as a potential remedy.

The report is aimed at all truffle growers and managers, particularly those entering the productive phase of management, as well as for those growers already experiencing losses to truffle rot.
